WHAT’S IN A NAME ?

Each season our stylists like to collaborate with artists who share similar creative interests & passions. This season we stumbled upon a great talent, with who it immediately clicked. Her name ? Fleur de Roeck, an Antwerp-based artist with a deep-seated urge to make things and let her intuition run free in that process.

COLOURFUL FANTASY WORLD

Fleur caught our eye with her bright, harmonious and dynamic use of colour, combined with an abundance of white to create a focal point. She uses colour so vividly and extensively that it creates a fantasy world. Everything is precisely measured but applied with such care that it becomes amusing and playful to look at.

At AO76 we love to work with colour. Like the white in Fleur's painting, we always have our base colours of white, blue, grey and green as the perfect neutral canvas.

DOTS & STRIPES

She uses dots & stripes as recurring & recognisable elements. Dots can represent many different things to Fleur like eyes, flower buds, celestial bodies, or just a pattern to follow. Her stripes are crafted with Chinese ink because she loves the fact that you only get one chance with ink.

Our stylists love the simplicity and power of basic symbols, creating new work by playing with their dimensions, direction and repetition.

THE INDIAN, SWEET AS SPRING

Like our AO76 stylists, Fleur paints and draws abstract shapes that are often recognisable. Her piece 'The Indian, sweet as spring' caught our eye for its pure embedding of the element of nature. It's our brand signature and one of our main sources of inspiration.

 

ART PRINTED ON YOUR CHEST

In this piece we see rugged mountains, the darkness and stillness of a nightfall and a colourful wave catching a fox. Everybody has their own interpretation. So regardless of the title... What do you see?
